Tile Installation Cost Calculator

This tool turns a tiling job into a bill rather than a tile count. Enter the area or the room dimensions and the rates you have been quoted, and it prices the tile on the area you buy including waste, the setting materials, backer board, labour and tear-out on the area you cover, then adds trim as a lump sum and a contingency on top. It also reports the cost per square foot installed and what the same job costs with the labour lines dropped. There is no built-in price list, so every figure in the answer traces back to a rate you typed in.

Room and Prices Measured In
This governs the two boxes above and every "$ per" box below. Enter metres and quote your rates per square metre, not per square foot.
Cuts, breakages and spares. 10% for a straight lay, 15% or more on a diagonal or herringbone pattern.
What your supplier charges, in whichever unit of area you chose above. If you are buying by the box, divide the box price by the area it covers.
Work it out from the bag prices and the coverage printed on the bag, then divide by the area. Leave at zero to exclude it.
Cement board, uncoupling membrane or waterproofing. Zero if you are tiling straight onto what is there.
The setting rate from your quote, in the unit of area you chose above. Leave at zero for a materials-only figure.
Removing the old floor and hauling it away. Zero on a bare subfloor.
A lump sum, because these follow the perimeter and the doorways rather than the floor area.
Applied to everything above. A remodel that opens up a rotten subfloor is what this is for.

Area and Prices In
Every figure you enter and every figure below follows this choice. An area and a price per unit of area convert in opposite directions, so they have to move together.
Works for a wall or a backsplash too: height times width, less any opening. In the unit you chose above.
