Ankle-Brachial Index Calculator

The ankle-brachial index is the higher ankle systolic pressure in a leg divided by the higher of the two arm pressures. Enter both brachial readings and the dorsalis pedis and posterior tibial pressures at each ankle, and this returns an index and a band for each leg. A second action gives the toe-brachial index, which is the measurement to reach for when the ankle reading comes back above 1.40. An artery stiffened by calcium will not compress under the cuff, so a high or even a normal index can sit on top of severe disease.
