Landscape Rock Calculator

Landscape rock is priced and delivered by weight, so the same patch of ground costs very different amounts depending on which rock you pick. Enter the area and the depth you want, choose a rock type or type in your supplier's own density, and the tool returns cubic yards, cubic feet, tons and the number of bags. A round action covers tree rings and circular beds, and a coverage action works backwards from a load you have already bought. The density used is printed with every answer, because lava rock weighs about half what river rock does.

The lengths, the depth, any custom density and any price are all read in the system you pick here, and the answer comes back in it.
Rock Type

Measure the bed, pick a depth and a rock, and get the yards, the tonnage and the bag count side by side.

Inches. Small rock is usually laid 2 to 3 in deep over fabric, larger cobbles 3 to 4 in so the ground does not show through.
Your supplier publishes a real figure for their own material, and it overrides the rock type when you fill it in.

A circle, or a ring with the middle left out for a trunk, a pond or a fire pit.

Leave at zero for a solid circle. Zero is zero in either system.

The other direction: you know what is turning up, and you want to know how much ground it covers. Pick the system first, then say what the amount is measured in.
